Passport
If you dont have this your not going to get very far. Check this at least 10 times before leaving and again 5 seconds before you set off
Documentation
This is the minimum documentation you should be carrying with you. I am going to put everything in a water tight sealed zip up pouch and stick them in my waterproof tank bag. Where i go, they go. I am also going to take photocopies of each document in case they are needed at any border crossings and keep them in one of the bike boxes.
Driving License
I will be packing both parts of my driving license
International Driving Permit (IDP)
you can apply for these at the post office or via the AA & RAC, they only cost £5.50 but are required in several countries.
Vehicle Registration
it is required in some countries to carry this with you
Vehicle Insurance
Dont leave home without it. Should anything happen while you are away you are going to need this seconds after showing your passport.
Insurance Green Card
This shows that you have the minimum cover for the countries that you are visiting. Ask your insurance company to issue you one to include EVERY country you are visiting
Vehicle Breakdown Cover
Should the bike break down you want to be able to call a number where you can speak the same language. getting somebody to come and repair the bike on the road might be the difference between finishing the trip or not.
Personal Insurance
This is your health insurance, Together with your EHIC it should cover you for every country you are visiting. An emergency operation with follow on costs could be as much as £50,000, it would be a bit silly not to pay a few quid to avoid that.
European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
An EHIC will enable you to get free (or vastly reduced costs) health care in other european union countries.
