Stops & Destination Notes

Zagreb

Zagreb is a city with a rich history dating from the Roman times to the present day. The oldest settlement in the urban area of the city is Andautonia, a Roman settlement in the place of today's Ščitarjevo. The name "Zagreb" is mentioned for the first time in 1094 at the founding of the Zagreb diocese of Kaptol, and Zagreb became a free royal town in 1242. In 1945 it was made the capital of Croatia

There are some beautiful buildings here to photogaph. If we park at the train station we should be able to get round quite a few

Check Point 1

Fuel stop, coffee stop and personal break after a lot of motorway miles

Vukovar

I was stationed here for 6 months in 1992 and really really want to see what its like now. When I was there, there wasn’t a house without holes in its walls or roof.

Novi Sad

The city was founded in 1694, when Serb merchants formed a colony across the Danube from the Petrovaradin fortress, a Habsburg strategic military post. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it became an important trading and manufacturing centre, as well as a centre of Serbian culture of that period, earning the nickname of the Serbian Athens. The city was heavily devastated in the 1848 Revolution, but was subsequently restored.

Another beautiful city to visit and fall in love with.
