Driving & Overtaking

Drive on the right and overtake on the left

Priority

Where no signs are used vehicles must give way to vehicles approaching from the right, otherwise obey road signs

Emergency vehicles (police, ambulance, army vehicles, etc.) have priority over other road users when using flashing lights and a siren

Vehicles on rails have priority even if approaching from the left

On mountain roads you have priority if going uphill
Warning of Approach

The use of the horn is only allowed in case of emergency, in order to avoid an accident.
Driving Penalties

The police can issue on the spot fines up to 90 Euro but must issue you an official receipt.

If a higher fine is required you may have to pay a deposit and then pay the remainder within two weeks
